Arrival

Arrival by public transport

The university has its own train station on the North Campus. From the station "Dortmund Universität", S-Bahn trains (S1) run every 20 or 30 minutes to Dortmund main station as well as to Düsseldorf airport and Düsseldorf main station. Thus, the university is directly connected to the cities of Bochum, Essen, Mülheim and Duisburg. During the lecture period, additional trains commute between Dortmund and Bochum. You can request your individual connection to TU Dortmund University via the VRR or Deutsche Bahn.

Arrival by car

The TU Dortmund campus is located near the Dortmund West interchange, where the freeway A45 crosses the B1/A40.

Coming from the north via the A1, drive to the Dortmund/Unna junction and take exit 84 onto the A44/B1 towards Dortmund. After about 8 km, the A44 becomes the B1 and you enter Dortmund. Immediately after the exit, turn right at the traffic lights and then left at the third set of lights onto Otto-Hahn-Straße. At the end of Otto-Hahn-Straße there is a large parking area on the right. Arrival by plane

Dortmund has an airport that is connected to many destinations in Central Europe. To get from Dortmund airport to the campus (approximately 20 kilometres), you can use the bus to Dortmund main railway station and then the S-Bahn to the university. However, it is usually faster to use a taxi. Far more international flight connections are offered by Düsseldorf Airport, which is about 60 kilometers away and can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university's train station.

The “H-Bahn” on campus

One of the university's higlights is the H-Bahn (a hanging railway), which has two stations on the north campus. One is located directly above the S-Bahn station and is easily accessible by lifts. The other is in the centre of Campus North at the bridge between the university library and the canteen, right next to the Audimax.
